When I was little, in addition to loving the color, the name used to make me giggle. Even today, whenever I hear the word "periwinkle" it makes me smile.
I have always loved the ocean and the sky- and this was the color of both for me.... blue seemed too blue....the sky was full of things that had wings... oh how we wished we could fly...and the ocean had things in it that moved so fast and they were blue... at least they looked that way in the water.... Aquamarine is a beautiful color because it reminds me of an ocean. It is the color of the ocean when the water is clear blue; is so serene and peaceful. Also, the name aquamarine sounds like a positive environment for sea life.
