Project-Saver Box

Why

Are you a clutter bug? Always losing stuff? You’ll be a keepsake kid after you decorate this handy storage container—it’s a pizza box!

Steps

1. Pizza boxes are strong AND big enough to handle lots of three-dimensional school projects. Here’s one way to make your own unique storage box.

2. With Crayola® Scissors, cut a construction paper label for the top of a clean, extra-large pizza box. Draw the label with Crayola Rainbow Twistables. Write the year, your name, and other information. Attach the label to the box with Crayola School Glue.

3. Decorate your Project-Saver Box with the fun, ever-changing Rainbow Twistables hues. Make bright borders, stripes, dots, or any designs you like on the top and sides! Make your box look as exciting as the projects you’ll put inside.

Safety Guidelines

Adult supervision is required for any arts & crafts project. Observe children closely and intervene as necessary to prevent potential safety problems and ensure appropriate use of arts and crafts materials. Some craft items, particularly beads and buttons, are potential choking hazards for young children. Avoid use of such small parts with children younger than 3 years. Craft items such as scissors, push pins and chenille sticks may have sharp points or edges. Avoid use of materials with sharp points by children younger than 4 years. Read all manufacturers' safety warnings before using arts and craft supplies.

Scissors—ATTENTION: The cutting edges of scissors are sharp and care should be taken whenever cutting or handling. Blunt-tip scissors should be used only by children 4 years and older. Pointed-tip scissors should be used only by children 6 years and older.

Adaptations

  • Ask your families to share organizing ideas with your class. Invite a professional organizer to explore tools of the trade. Identify storage challenges in your school and as a class come up with solutions.
  • Visit a museum, library, or newspaper to see their behind-the-scenes storage facilities. Call a delivery service, mover, or another company that keeps track of enormous amounts of items. Discover how they function successfully.
