From a mother… Honoring the drama teacher for her sensitivity to students' feelings!
My daughter came home from school one day with news about plans for the school play. She was so excited and determined to audition for a role, that I worried that she would be extremely disappointed if she was not able to land a part in the production.
On the day of the auditions, I wondered how I could rescue my daughter's self-confidence if she was not successful. I should have known I would be taught a great lesson that day. She came rushing up to me with the joyful news that she had been given the play's most important role. She beamed as she said "I'm going to lead the audience in clapping and cheering during the play."
I discovered later, that every student who auditioned was given a role by the drama teacher - and the only difference was the role's title. Each was as important as the other in the eyes of this teacher.
