Gratitude Banners

Students will identify leadership traits and other qualities they admire in people around them, then create a banner of gratitude for that person.

Lesson Plan

Supplies Needed

Gather all the supplies needed to bring your craft ideas to life! From paints and markers to glue and scissors, our crafts section has everything to spark creativity and make every project truly special.

Steps

  • Step 1

Ask students to identify people in their lives who motivate and inspire them. Perhaps it is a teacher, librarian, coach, music instructor, family member, or anyone else. Then ask them to think of the admirable leadership traits and other qualities these people embody.

  • Step 2

Have students create a banner to express their gratitude to one of the people they chose. They can cut a notch out of the bottom of a sheet of paper to make the banner look like a large ribbon. The banner should include the name of the person and some of the traits they admire or the reasons they feel grateful for knowing this person. Each banner can be created in a unique way based on the feelings of the artist.

  • Step 3

Have students present their gratitude banners to the class, then ask them to share the banners with the people they honored.

Have students learn how to say "thank you" in various languages.
