Lesson Plan

Supplies Needed

Gather all the supplies needed to bring your craft ideas to life! From paints and markers to glue and scissors, our crafts section has everything to spark creativity and make every project truly special.

Steps

  • Step 1

Ask children to review the numerals from one to 10 and then practice writing them. Then have them write "bubble numbers" from one to nine (several per sheet of paper). They can do this by first writing the numeral lightly in erasable colored pencil and then tracing around it with a washable marker to create an open version with room to illustrate inside. They may wish to erase the written pencil marks. Then they can cut out the sections to form their number cards.

  • Step 2

When the numerals have been drawn and the cards cut out, have children illustrate a quantity of objects within the open space to represent the pictured numeral.

  • Step 3

Ask students to swap their sets of illustrated cards and present those drawings in numerical order while they describe their classmates' illustrations.

Standards

MATH: Create models that demonstrate math concepts and attend to precision.

MATH: Analyze, compare, create, and compose math ideas using written, oral, and drawn lines, shapes, forms, and patterns.

Adaptations

Put the class's numeral pictures in a stack. Have each student take one, then challenge the students to form a line and display the numerals in the correct order.

Ask students to create "bubble letters" and illustrate a pictures within them of items that begin with that letter.
