Rules For Our PlaygroundAt Crayola, we are all about kids. Kids inspire us, our work, our products, our offices, and our culture. Our kid-inspired culture defines who we are and how we act, which enables us to be creative and allows us to think like the kids we delight everyday.

That's why we created the Rules for our Playground. Crayolians use these rules to guide them as they work and play with each other, our consumers, suppliers, and our customers.

Crayolians have a "can-do" spirit. We work together to create products that help parents and educators raise creative and inspired kids. Crayolians are proud of the products we make and the part we play in the lives of children. Strong beliefs, innovative ideas, and strategic thinking help make us successful.

The Employee Volunteer Council helps identify the key community activities Crayola will support in the upcoming year. Council members agree to be a "champion" for a specific event, encouraging other employees to join the effort. Nonprofit board training is offered to help prepare employees who are interested in working on a nonprofit board or committee. We help place employees on community boards. We celebrate and recognize our employees for their community involvement at an annual event. The recognition is for volunteering at corporate-sponsored events, nonprofit board leadership or volunteering for a myriad of community activities, including coaching a sports team or volunteering in a school. Crayola knows that employee involvement not only helps the community, but it helps develop better leaders at Crayola.

We believe one of our most important responsibilities in Community Affairs is to lead, support and advocate for nonprofit and education organizations in the Lehigh Valley that believe the most important question a child asks is "What If?". "What If?" can solve the impossible and make the imaginable, real. There are a myriad of challenges that face the schools, neighborhoods and families in our community. We are convinced a key aspect of ensuring children have their basic physical and emotional needs met is giving them the time, space and opportunities to wonder, explore, pretend, imagine, create and question.

We support parents, teachers and caregivers as they "lead their kids from behind" and they provide the tools "to give colorful wings to invisible things." We reinforce nonprofit and educational organizations' efforts to encourage imagination in kids as they give kids opportunities for success that aren't tied to grades or scores or formal instruction. We know organizations that know the magic of daydreams and the power of wonder will give kids the ability to think for themselves. We support those organizations that nurture the power of daydreams and the magic of imagination. These creatively alive children will grow up to be inspired adults and tomorrow's leaders.
