DIY Paper Umbrella

When it rains, it fleurs! April showers bring May flowers in this blooming paper umbrella, a fun spring craft for kids.

Supplies Needed

Gather all the supplies needed to bring your craft ideas to life! From paints and markers to glue and scissors, our crafts section has everything to spark creativity and make every project truly special.

Steps

  • Step 1

    Sketch 4 rectangles on cardstock approximately 5.5”H x 2”W. Sketch umbrella handle and umbrella tip on different color cardstock. Cut out.

  • Step 2

    Wrap rectangle into cone shape. Glue to secure. Trim off excess cardstock to create flat cone bottom.

  • Step 3

    Repeat step 3 for all rectangles.

  • Step 4

    Cut cardstock sheet in half widthwise.

  • Step 5

    Glue handle to cardstock sheet. Glue cone shapes on top of handle to create umbrella shape. Glue umbrella tip to cones.

  • Step 6

    Sketch and cut out cardstock flowers.

  • Step 7

    Glue flowers to cardstock sheet, cascading out of umbrella. Let all glue steps dry 1–2 hours.

  • Step 8

    Display your blooming umbrella to celebrate spring!

  • To add more dimension and create 3D flowers, cut a small slit between flower petals, fold inward, and glue middle of flower to secure.
