No Sew Bird Wings Costume
Just wing it! Flap to this DIY Halloween costume for kids & create upcycled cardboard bird wings.
Supplies:
- Crayola Scissors
- Crayola Paint Brush
- Crayola Construction Paper
- Crayola Project Vivid Colors Cardstock
- Crayola No-Run School Glue
- Pencil
- Crayola Acrylic Paint
- Crayola Bright Pop! Cardstock
- Crayola Broad Line Markers
- Crayola Metallic Markers
- Upcycled Cardboard
- Hot Glue Gun
Steps:
1 Sketch 2 large wings on cardboard. Sketch 4 rectangles on cardboard approximately 12”H x 2”W. Cut out.
2 Cover wings and rectangles with paint. Dry 1–2 hours and flip over.
3 Cover wings and rectangles with paint. Dry 1–2 hours. Add second coat. Dry 1–2 hours.
4 Sketch and cut out Bright Pop cardstock feathers. Add detail by cutting small slits along edges.
5 Sketch feathers on construction paper and add details with broad line markers. Cut out.
6 Sketch feathers on Vivid Colors cardstock and add details with metallic markers. Cut out.
7 Glue feathers to sides of wings with 2 coats of paint. Dry 1–2 hours and flip over.
8 Have an adult hot glue cardboard 2 rectangles to back of each wing, gently bending to create arm loops. Let cool 30 minutes.
9 Slide arms through loops and flap around in your new costume!
