Crayola Sidewalk Chalk is a molded chalk made of Plaster of Paris and color pigments. Although it is designed to be used on sidewalks and driveways, the chalk contains colorants, which may stain clothing and other household surfaces. If the chalk is used on a newly poured sidewalk or driveway, there is a possibility that the open surface pores in the concrete could absorb the colors.
We suggest testing Crayola Sidewalk Chalk in an inconspicuous area and then washing it away with water. In most cases, chalk markings wash away with the first rainfall if used on a paved or poured surface that is more than two years old.
Crayola offers stain removal suggestions as a service to consumers. You can find this information on the Crayola Stain Removal Tips page.
Please bear in mind that while all stain removal suggestions have been tested in our laboratory, results are not guaranteed. We recommend testing any suggestion in an inconspicuous area first.

Although CRAYOLA washable products are water-based and designed to wash from skin and nearly all children's clothing, the dyes and pigments included in Crayola washable products react differently to various skin types, depending on a person's body chemistry.
Normally, Crayola washable products can be removed from the skin by washing with soap and water. If you are unsuccessful with soap and water, try using baby wipes, baby oil or make-up remover. Since Crayola washable products are water-based, you may find that keeping the area moist with water will help to lift the stain.

Get the best results with these tips for cleaning your Scribble Scrubbie Pets.
Scrub Under Running Water:
- Gently scrub your pet under running water after play. Use the scrub brush to help release the marker inks from the tiny fibers (flocking). Do not clean your Scribble Scrubbie Pets in the dishwasher or bathtub.
Allow to Dry:
- Allow your pets to dry before a second use. Coloring on damp pets can cause the ink to wick under the fibers, making the color harder to rinse away. Let your pet air dry before storing it.
Soaking for Stubborn Stains:
- If colors persist after scrubbing under running water or have been on your pet for several days, consider soaking it in water for 20 minutes. For stubborn stains, an overnight soak may be necessary.
Additional Tips:
- Fresh coloring is easier to clean. Soap has little effect on cleaning your pets. Fresh coloring typically requires a rinse under the faucet, while concentrated coloring may require light scrubbing under a faucet or an overnight soak.

If you're unable to locate the Window Markers, Crayola Washable Paint can be a fun alternative.
Pro Tips for Washable Paint:
- For the perfect mixture, add equal parts Crayola Washable Paint and dish soap.
- Add a pinch of flour to make the paint thicker.
- Don't forget to protect the area under your window by laying down an old T-shirt.
- Painting can be done on the inside or the outside of your window.
- Because soap is used in the paint, your designs will wipe off windows with a wet paper towel. You can follow up with window cleaner for extra shine.
