  • Foam Board
  • Gifts Treats or Activities
  • Hook-and-Loop Fastener
  • Paper Towel Roll(s)

Steps

  • Step 1

    Cut 9 paper towel rolls into thirds.

  • Step 2

    Cover 25 paper towel roll pieces with paint. Dry 1–2 hours. Add second coat. Dry 1–2 hours.

  • Step 3

    Print Christmas Countdown Calendar free coloring page and color with crayons.

  • Step 4

    Cut out date squares and coloring page title.

  • Step 5

    Crease ends of paper towel rolls to create holders.

  • Step 6

    Glue a date square to each holder.

  • Step 7

    Add details to holders with markers and glitter glue.

  • Step 8

    Glue coloring page title to top of foam board.

  • Step 9

    Glue a hook-and-loop fastener piece to each holder.

  • Step 10

    Add a small gift, treat, or seasonal activity suggestion to each holder.

  • Step 11

    Glue holders to foam board in numerical order.

  • Step 12

    Check back each day in December for a new creative surprise!

  • For this DIY craft, we recommend covering surfaces and protecting clothing.

  • We found using 5/8”W circular hook-and-loop fasteners worked best for this project.

  • For the gifts, treats, and activities, you can stuff the holders with a Scribble Scrubbie Pet, Crayola Crayons, and so much more. Add a cutout or note for a larger gift or DIY holiday craft idea to make together using craft supplies from prior days and projects.
