Crayon Melter Watercolor Resist

Create frosty DIY wall art with this easy winter craft! Use the Crayola Crayon Melter and White Crayons to make a crayon resist, then paint over with Watercolors.

Supplies Needed

Gather all the supplies needed to bring your craft ideas to life! ...

  • Crayons
  • Glitter Glue
  • Paint Brushes
  • Watercolors
  • Cardstock
  • Disposable Cup
  • Frame
  • Water

Steps

  • Step 1

    Break crayons into smaller pieces.

  • Step 2

    Load 2–3 crayon pieces into top of Crayon Melter unit.

  • Step 3

    Ask an adult to plug Crayon Melter into a power source. When red light on Crayon Melter turns green, the crayons have melted and unit is ready.

  • Step 4

    Hold Crayon Melter unit upright and draw snow-covered trees on cardstock.

  • Step 5

    When color begins to run out, add more crayons to Crayon Melter and wait approximately 1 minute for new crayons to melt.

  • Step 6

    Repeat steps 4–5 until design is complete. Cool for 5 minutes.

  • Step 7

    Paint a colorful sky on cardstock with watercolors.

  • Step 8

    Accent trees with glitter glue. Dry 3–4 hours.

  • Step 9

    Frame your winter scene & display on a gallery wall!
