Paint
Paint Brushes
Baking Soda
Craft Stick
Measuring Spoons
Mixing Bowl(s)

Wood Plaque

Steps

Step 1

In mixing bowl, combine 2 Tbsp baking soda and 1 Tbsp water with craft stick, creating a paste.
Step 2

Pour 2 oz paint into separate mixing bowl. Add baking soda mixture to paint and stir until smooth.
Step 3

Cover wood plaque with paint mixture. Dry 1–2 hours. Add second coat. Dry 1–2 hours.
Step 4

Write message on plaque with chalk!

CIY Staff Tips

To erase, dab plaque with a damp paper towel. Let dry completely before writing a new message.
Chalkboards don’t need to be black! Experiment with different colors of acrylic paint using the same chalkboard paint recipe.
