Using Model Magic, broad line markers, acrylic paint, and construction paper, children create a colorful fish that looks like it’s hooked on a handmade fishing pole. The craft is low‑mess, easy to prep, and perfect for classrooms, camps, or at‑home crafting. Kids can personalize their fish with patterns, colors, and a Father’s Day message, making it a thoughtful keepsake Dad will love.

Steps

  • Step 1

Carefully cut the craft tube in half lengthwise. Roll the tube back together creating a narrower tube and tape together.

  • Step 2

Thread string through the tube and cut so that there is a long piece exiting the tube on both ends. Paint the tube to create your fishing pole.

  • Step 3

Create a "hook" by making a disc shape out of Crayola Model Magic. Bury a magnet in the disc and then shape the ball around the string. Allow to dry.

  • Step 4

Mold fish from Model Magic and hide a magnet inside. Paint the fish using Crayola Washable Paint. Allow to dry.

  • Step 5

Tape several pieces of blue construction paper together to create a fish pond. Add ripples to the water with a dark blue marker. Cut the pond to your desired shape.

  • Step 6

    Go Fish!

Place the dried Model Magic fish in your construction paper pond. Try to hook a fish using the magnetic hook at the end of your DIY fishing pole.
