FAQ

  • Although we no longer offer giant size Crayola Crayons for retail purchase, you can explore 2 lb. Crayola Crayon options at The Crayola Experience Store.

  • Follow these tips for melting crayons:

    1.  Only use Crayola Crayons

    2.  Only melt three crayons at one time

Also, if multiple cycles are needed to fully melt the crayon wax, the metal melt tray (where you place the broken crayons) may not be fully snapped into place.  This causes the tray to sit unevenly on the heat plate which in turn causes the crayons to melt unevenly. To secure the tray, follow these steps:

    1.    Make sure unit is cooled, turned off and unplugged.

    2.    Lift plastic lid.

    3.    Remove the melt tray by pushing it back and sliding it up and out of the pivot supporters.

    4.    Begin sliding the tray back into the pivot supporters, making sure to slide the tray underneath the Yellow Pour Control Tab.

    5.    Use some force to push each tab into the rounded joints. You’ll hear a loud click as you press one side in and then the other. This click ensures the tray is properly in place.  The tray should rest directly on the heating unit with no space in between.

    6.    Once secured, turn the Pour Control Knob a few times to make sure the melt tray moves freely up and down.

  • At Crayola®, our goal is to delight children with fun and exciting new products that are made just for them. As part of our process in developing new products, it is important to get feedback from Parents and Kids to understand their needs and also what is appealing to them. That’s where our creative families come in! Throughout the year, Crayola will recruit Parents and/or Children to participate in focus groups to discuss consumer experiences and preferences or possibly try new product concepts to ensure Crayola delivers products that are fun and exciting for Kids while also meeting the expectations of Parents. Learn more about the Advisory Panel.

    What you should know:

    • To be a member of the Crayola Consumer Panel, children in the household must be 17 years or younger. Households of Crayola employees or immediate relations of Crayola employees, or employees of any other toy or children's art and stationery manufacturer are not eligible.
    • Recruitment is based on specific project needs (i.e. age, gender, areas of interest)
    • Focus groups typically run 1 - 2 hours and are held at our Crayola facilities either in Forks or Palmer townships in Easton, PA. Participants must be in driving distance to our facilities.

  • Your Crayola markers may have dried out if left uncapped. Below are some suggestions to help revive them.

    1. Color-Change Doodle Markers:
      • Replace the cap for 72 hours (about 3 days) before attempting to use it again.
    2. Color Wonder Markers:
      • Not water-based and cannot be revived.
      • Try wiping the nib clean, cap the marker, and store with the tip down overnight if left uncapped briefly.
    3. Fine-Point and Ultra-Fine Point Doodle Markers:
      • Cannot be revived as they are permanent marker inks.
    4. Gel Markers:
      • Rub the marker back and forth on the drawing surface.
      • If still dry, replace the cap for 2-3 hours.
      • Alternatively, dip the tip in warm water for about 5 seconds, recap, and wait 24 hours before trying again.
    5. Non-Water-Based Markers:
      • These markers are permanent and cannot be revived.
    6. Take Note! Gel Pens:
      • Tap the tip against paper to engage and disengage the tip until writing comes back.
      • If unsuccessful, the pen may be empty even if some ink appears to be remaining.
    7. Water-Based Markers (Regular, Washable, Ultra-Clean, Dual-Ended Doodle, Washable No-Drip & Project Paint Brush Pens):
      • Dip the tip in warm water for about 5 seconds.
      • Recap the marker and wait 24 hours before using it again.

Where can I find more information about Crayola Marker products and proper storage tips?

    • If the lights and/or spinning features are not operating as expected, the following reset tips are often successful.

      1. Check to be sure the batteries are installed properly. Reactivate the unit by sliding the black on/off switch on the underside of the base. The "on" position is indicated by a straight line and may need to be reset by turning it off and back on twice.

      2. Remove the center drawing surface, which must be in place for the center lights to work, and firmly push it back into place.

      3. Check the red gear ring on the plastic dome to be sure it is flush against the lip. Place the lid on the base.

      4. Activate the light feature by moving the silver slider switch to the right. Activate the dome rotation by pressing the silver button. See product instructions for additional details.

      Additional tips:

      5. Glow Dome Markers are attached to the cardboard packing located at the bottom of the Glow Dome/Dome Light Designer box. Opening the box from the bottom should assist in locating the markers.

      6. Room lighting should be dimmed for the Glow Dome/Dome Light Designer lights to show up.

      7. The unit will turn off automatically after one hour and may require the above reset tips.
