Alcohol-based markers are made with dyes, which are naturally not lightfast. They have a lightfastness rating of 1–2 out of 5 and, while they are on the lower end of the pH scale, they are not considered archival-quality markers. To help preserve artwork created with alcohol-based markers, keep finished pieces away from direct sunlight.
