At what age do you recommend children begin using Crayola products?

Many Crayola products do not state age recommendations on packaging because the age when a child is ready to begin using art products varies from child to child. Some children are ready to use art products at a very early age, while others may not show an interest until later. Crayola offers a range of art supplies and creative activities designed specifically for children ages 12 – 36 months. View products for toddlers on Crayola.com!

However, we think you will love the Crayola Face & Body Crayons! These non-toxic crayons allow you to color right on your skin. They clean easily off the skin with soap and water. Check for them at a major retail store near you.

  • The basic ingredients contained in Crayola® Crayons are paraffin wax and color pigment. These ingredients are the same for all Crayola Crayon colors, with some modifications in special effects crayons.

Crayola Crayons begin to melt at around 105° Fahrenheit and have a melting point between 120° - 147° Fahrenheit. The melting point is the same for all regular Crayola Crayons; however, the density and amount of pigment included in different crayons will result in varying thickness or viscosity of the mixture.

  • Crayola® Crayons are made primarily from paraffin wax and color pigment. We do not recommend making candles using Crayola Crayons. They have not been tested or approved for this type of use.
