On November 2, 1795, James Polk was born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He was the eleventh president of the United States, and he served in office from 1845 to 1849. On February 14, 1849, James Polk was the first to be photographed as president. During his presidency, the postage stamp was first used. He died in Nashville, Tennessee on June 15, 1849.
