FAQ

  • Our experts have a few tips to help your creativity bloom with the Crayola Paper Flower Science Kit.

    For Best Results:

    • Protect clothing and work surface before starting.
    • Wipe water and ink spills immediately.

    Cleaning Tips:

    • Rinse and dry all pots, covers, funnels, and watering can.
    • Recap ink bottles and markers.
    • Wipe away any spills from work surfaces.

    Looking for refills?

    • Need another bouquet? White coffee filters are the perfect alternative to paper petals because they mimic the wicking process of the ink into the paper.
    • Have leftover ink? To make your creativity bloom again, rinse the used cores and tips under running water to clean up as much of the ink as possible. Just be sure to wipe up any ink right away and let the cores and tips dry thoroughly. We’ve found this craft hack works best when the ink is fresh and hasn’t had too much time to set.

  • Although Crayola does not manufacture a product to remove crayon marks from paper, a kneaded eraser, usually sold at art supply stores, may help!
  • Crayola® Crayons are made primarily from paraffin wax and color pigment. This process is the same for all Crayola Crayon colors. The paraffin wax is melted and mixed together with pre-measured amounts of color pigments.

We purchase the powder pigments and either use individual colors or mix the pigments to produce the many colors of Crayola crayons. The hot wax mixture is poured into molding machines. In about four to seven minutes, the crayons cool and become solid. We manufacture almost 3 billion crayons each year.

Take a peek at the manufacturing process in this YouTube video.

Check out our FAQs below for even more details!

At what temperature do Crayola Crayons melt?

Do Crayola crayons float or sink in water?

  • While the color pigments in most Crayola products are not permanent and will fade over time when exposed to strong light, the Crayola products below are permanent and light-fast on most paper surfaces.

Q: Are there any tips for painting pumpkins?

A: Yes, here are a few tips:
