Raindrop Suncatcher
Loading Color Wheel

Create a colorful crayon shaving sun catcher just in time for spring!

Supplies:

Steps:

1

1 Unwrap the crayons you want to use to make your raindrops.

2

2 Sharpen your crayons into small shavings using a pencil sharpener.

3

3 Sprinkle the shavings onto a piece of wax paper.

4

4 Place a slightly larger piece of wax paper over the top of your crayon shavings.

5

5 Tape down the edges and make sure to remove as many air bubbles as possible.

6

6 With an adult’s help, use a hair dryer to melt the shavings until they form a colorful melted surface. Let cool 15 min.

7

7 Cut raindrop shapes into your melted wax leaving the wax paper on.

CIY Staff Tips:

  • This project uses a hair dryer. Adult assistance required.

  • Experiment with shades of blue for your raindrops!
